The 20 participants in the Tour Duchenne, a 1,200km charity bike ride from Airlie Beach to the Gold Coast in Queensland, are currently having one of the most rewarding experiences of their lives.
For event organiser, Corporate Challenge Events, it has been just as rewarding to be able to plan and now deliver an event that is currently raising more than $250,000 for Fight Duchenne Foundation Australia.
This year’s Tour Duchenne will take riders nine days to complete with Corporate Challenge Events preparing the finish for tomorrow Saturday (12 September) on the Gold Coast.
It has been a meticulously-planned and fun event for Corporate Challenge Events to organise, utilising the 21 years of experience it has built delivering events around Australia and New Zealand.
Corporate Challenge Events Managing Director Dwain Richardson said his Conferences & Events team has been responsible for all event deliverables from the ride route, rider uniforms, risk assessments, registration, accommodation, catering, entertainment, communications, technical equipment, marketing materials and stakeholder liaison.
“This event has involved many logistics including accommodation, catering and special events, as well as course reconnaissance and the complexities of dealing with multiple councils,” said Richardson.
“Our events team have done an exceptional job in pulling this all together to give the riders an amazing experience.”
Fellow Director and Founder of Corporate Challenge Events Travis Ireland is also on the route as a rider in the 1,200km journey.
Tour Duchenne Founder Julian Thompson said the contribution of Corporate Challenge Events as the event planner this year has helped the fundraising tally reach in excess of $250,000.
“The involvement of Corporate Challenge Events in this year’s event has taken the pressure off and allowed the foundation to focus on sponsorship, awareness and fundraising for Duchenne’s Disease, the main purpose of this event,” said Thompson.
