Businesses in Australia and New Zealand are looking to fun and different ‘team building’ experiences when it comes to their annual work Christmas party, according to Dwain Richardson, Managing Director of Corporate Challenge Events.
Richardson oversees one of Australasia’s leading and largest corporate events and team building companies and is at the epicentre of enquiries for unique Christmas party options for clients.
Richardson said more companies are organising unique experiences and something different from previous years for their staff Christmas party.
“As the traditional workplace has changed, so to has any notion of a traditional work Christmas party,” said Richardson.
“Companies are looking for variety, fun experiences and events that acknowledge the contribution of families too.
“We are seeing activities like family days, overnight retreats, destinational experiences and also fun team building challenges, as popular as a cocktail or dinner reception at a nice venue.
“These events are planned nowadays not only to be a social and fun occasion, but an opportunity to acknowledge the efforts of staff and their family, to reinforce company values and create team bonding experiences.
“This year we have had an increase in bookings for some of our Christmas themed team building activities like ‘Hunt for Santa’s Sleigh’, ‘Christmas Cluedo’ and ‘A Christmas Dinner’. They are fun, they are different and they provide that team bonding experience.”
Richardson said early to mid November was traditionally the time when businesses aimed to confirm their work Christmas party plans for the year.
“I think typically organisations try to have their plans established at least a month in advance, some can be much earlier and some later, but I know our enquiries peak over this period.”
Richardson had two simple tips for businesses that were just starting to consider their Christmas party options for 2015.
“It is important to know what your budget is. This will help you quickly work out a scope for your plans including venue, catering, accommodation, transport and entertainment.
“Once you understand your budget, then work out who you wish to attend, particularly if you want to make this an event for more than just staff.
“With budget and approximate numbers determined, it is then time to bring your work Christmas party to life.”
